Talking Points
WHAT IS TALKING POINTS?
TalkingPoints is a communication platform designed to bridge language and communication barriers between educators and parents. It enables teachers and school staff to send messages in multiple languages, fostering effective and inclusive communication with families who speak different languages. By facilitating seamless dialogue, TalkingPoints enhances parental engagement in their child's education and creates a supportive partnership between schools and families.
HOW DO I USE IT?
Families have three easy ways to use TalkingPoints and to communicate with their children’s teachers for free! They can use text messaging, download the separate app - TalkingPoints for Families - or they can use it on the web at TalkingPoints for Families.
TEXT: Every family is registered to receive text messages from TalkingPoints using the phone number provided during enrollment. If you have never received a text, please confirm that the number you provided is correct. Once you've installed the app, communication transitions from texting you to sending messages through the app.
TALKING POINTS APP: The TalkingPoints app is a user-friendly platform designed to facilitate effective communication between educators and parents. With its intuitive interface, the app enables teachers to send messages in multiple languages, ensuring that language barriers do not hinder important interactions. Parents can easily access messages, stay informed about school updates, and actively engage in their child's education. The TalkingPoints app serves as a bridge that promotes meaningful collaboration between schools and families, fostering a supportive learning environment for every student.
Talking Points Families are available on both the App Store and Google Play. Go to https://talkingpts.org/families/ to find a direct link to either store or just search on your phone’s application software.
TURING ON NOTIFICATIONS IN THE APP:
If you have the app and are not getting alerted by new messages, please go into setting and and choose Notification Help. This will help make sure that your Talking Points notifications are on and will even send a test notification.
STEP ONE:
STEP TWO: This step will walk you through your phones setting and let you know if any settings need to be changed in order for Talking Points to send notifications when Darnaby sends them out.
Once all of your settings are corrected, Talking Points will send out a test notification to show you what to expect.
WEBSITE: For those who prefer not to add another app to their phone, the TalkingPoints website offers an accessible alternative for communication. Through the user-friendly website, parents can receive messages and updates from educators without the need to install an additional application. This option ensures convenience while still enabling seamless interaction between teachers and families, fostering active participation in a student's educational journey.
